Rotating equipment vibrations can dramatically reduce life.  Many factors can lead to vibration problems and when fixes seem to not solve the problem, owners turn to the concrete foundation as a possible culprit.  But what can be done?  Before replacing a good foundation, owners need to consider a condition survey first.

This presentation will focus on the condition survey of rotating equipment concrete foundations.

Internal concrete defects such as honeycombs (voids) and cracks, broken anchor bolts, and/or incorrectly placed reinforcement can play a role in vibrations of rotating equipment.  Even voids around the foundation underneath area pavement can contribute to vibration problems.

Radarview can help determine the overall condition of the foundation and help identify possible causes of vibrations originating in the foundation.

The techniques used include Ultrasonic Pulse-Velocity, Impact-Echo Testing, and Ground Penetrating Radar.

This Presentation will discuss the techniques used to perform foundation condition surveys and will present various case studies.
